Gov. Crist's reply Oil Revenue Proposal

Cov. Crist's office turns out to be no different than the Democrats on off shore oil drilling. I really didnt expect him to embrace my proposal  per my post here  on July 16th,  but it would have been nice if   he said we will take it under consideration. Instead , below is their reply, same old alternative energy B.S,  Biomass, wind etc etc :

Subject: RE: Offshore drilling SOLUTIONS

Thank you for writing and sharing your comments on the recent discussions concerning oil drilling off the coast of Florida. The Governor wants to know how people feel about the many critical issues we face and asked that I respond on his behalf.

Most will agree that Florida has one of the world’s most unique environments that must be carefully protected. The state and national economy also need protection. With that in mind, the Governor believes that both our environment and the economy must be part of the conversation.

While that conversation must include domestically produced fuels, Governor Crist is committed to seeking innovative ways to meet Florida’s growing energy needs while reducing the emission of greenhouse gas. For example, the Governor's administration has worked with and supported efforts by Progress Energy to purchase energy from a large biomass facility. In addition, Governor Crist is encouraged by Florida Power and Light’s enhanced commitment to solar energy.

The Governor's commitment to enhancing the use of renewable fuels such as solar and wind power is exemplified in the energy legislation signed on June 25. This bill commits Florida to greater fuel diversity and the use of alternative and renewable fuels as part of an overall mission to reduce dependence on foreign oil. House Bill 7135 was passed unanimously by both houses of the Florida Legislature. Further details can be found at: http://www.flgov.com/release/9998

For more information, I encourage you to view the Department of Environmental Protection’s energy Web site at www.dep.state.fl.us/energy

Thank you again for contacting Governor Charlie Crist. The Governor understands the affect that high fuel costs have on Florida’s families, and wants to make sure that all possible solutions are given proper consideration. For information about Governor Crist’s administration and initiatives, please view the Governor's web site at www.flgov.com.
