House Republicans stood together and voted against the Democrat's SPENDING FRENZY BILL. Perhaps they are finally getting the message, Get back to core conservative values and policies.
Why is it Obama and the Dem leaders even cared about Republican suport for the spending frenzy bill? It is to have cover in case it fails. They could say, "See, all of Washington thought the spending/bailout bill would work!"
They need Republicans to share the blame. Happily at least House Republicans didn't fall for the trap, lets hope Senate Republicans hold up their end and reject this bill as it is now written.
The bill now going to the Senate is just the begining of the spending frenzy. This economic disaster is a Libs answer to prayer. Never would they have been able to put through two bills in four months totaling over a TRILLION DOLLARS and all but nationalizing the banking, mortgage and
auto industries. Never would they have been able to stuff so much pork into one bill paying off one interest group after another. Yes, the Democrats are in the midst of the greatest spending frenzy of all time. Their only criticism of the New Deal is that it didn't spend enough money!
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Soon we will be told Nationalizing the Bank and Mortgage Industries completely is the only way to prevent a depression. Americans will be scared into accepting these lies. We will be told it is only temporary - that when the economy picks up these assets will be resold back to private industry. What you will not hear is the exit plan! You will not hear of a 16 month or 2 year timetable for Government to withdraw from occupying these industries and others they will soon bail out. All we have heard is where was Bush's exit plan for Iraq, well the silence will be deafening when it comes to the Dem exit plan for un-nationalizing these industries.
Senate Republicans must not be fooled by Obama/Reid/Pelosi's calls for bi-partisanship. All too often Republicans in a foolish effort to show they can reach across the isle get suckered in and left high and dry. To Libs, bipartisanship means conservatives compromise OUR core while they give up nothing. No more Gangs of 14 or 11 or whatever! They are afraid of failure, they need Republican support. We do not have the votes to block this so it is up to THEM to compromise. Unfortunately I do not think Senate Repiblicans have the guts to stand up enmass and vote NO as the House did. I hope I am wrong.
The GOP must elect a NEW, STRONG national chairman NOW! update:
Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan dropped his bid for re-election Friday after a third round of voting showed him in second place.
Former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele was ahead in the latest round, but voting moved into a fourth round Friday after no clear winner emerged.
If this is true and Duncan is out it is good news! The first step in cleaning the leadership house and taking back our conservative core! Nothing against Duncan but it is time for him to go!
Republican Govs, Reps and Senators must develop a plan and speak with one voice on the economic disaster, bailouts, off shore drilling which has all but been forgotten and should be included in any compromise with the White House. They need vigorous NEW leadership to hold off the un-fairnes doctrine, the UAW bailout the assault on the rights of workers to a secret ballot regarding unionization, and other issues important to our cause. Will the next Newt and Reagan please stand up - NOW!
